Why Installer Certification Matters
Warranty protection requires certified installation
Most modular wall and furniture manufacturers require factory-certified installers to maintain product warranties. An installation performed by an uncertified crew - even if the work looks correct - can void the manufacturer's warranty on the entire system. Before hiring any installer, verify their certification status directly with the manufacturer.
Not all manufacturers certify independent installers
Steelcase, Teknion, and HON offer independent installer certification programs. However, Herman Miller (now MillerKnoll) and Haworth do not certify independent installers - only their authorized dealer network can perform warrantied installations for those brands. If your furniture came through a dealer, ask whether the installation crew is factory-certified or subcontracted day labor.
Certified crews vs. subcontracted labor
The most common complaint in commercial office installation is subcontracted crews who have never seen the specific product before. Many dealers and contractors hire temporary labor for installations - workers who lack training on the tight tolerances and connection details that modular systems require. Our installers are full-time employees with manufacturer-specific training.
